Merrifield Garden Center

Amazing place! Plenty of options for all categories, and extremely helpful staff. Andy explained many native plants to us and his recommendations were very helpful. We ended up buying many shrubs and perennials and are super excited for our yard transformation

We visited Merrifield Garden Center today, and the plants were in pristine condition, clearly well-tended and thoughtfully displayed. What stood out most was the team. Everyone encountered was warm, cordial, and genuinely willing to help, not just with a quick answer, but with real engagement. A visit specifically to find a rubber plant came with a handful of specific questions, and each person spoken with handled every one of them with patience and knowledge. The selection was also notable, with pots, soil, houseplants, and garden plants all under one roof, and enough variety to satisfy both the casual browser and the serious gardener. Merrifield Garden Center is a good reminder of what a well-run local garden center can offer.

The workers are eager to help you find what you need, and they were able to accommodate my special request for a smaller Christmas tree.

Bought our first real Christmas tree here today and could not be happier with the great service - from carrying the tree to get trimmed, to the rolling it out to the car and strapping it to the roof all within 10minutes. So easy, so fast and friendly, which when with a toddler, makes life so much easier. The trees are about double what we paid at lots in the past, but I would still come back for the good service ($190 for an 8ft tree). Looks good in the stand so far too! Hoping it lasts a month :)

I am very disappointed with my experience at Merrifield Garden Center in Falls Church. In 2024, I purchased $670 worth of shrubs and had them professionally planted. Within a couple of months, the shrubs looked burned and began to die. I returned with one of the plants and was told they had not been properly scored before planting. However, when I first purchased them, the roots were extremely compacted and hard as a rock in the containers. I was given a credit and decided to try again, but unfortunately the same issue happened not once, but two more times. Despite having lived in my home for 30 years with extensive landscaping and a full irrigation system, every attempt ended with the plants dying within a couple of months. I understand their one-year replacement policy has expired, but I am very disappointed in both the quality of the shrubs and the response to my recent call. Merrifield was not open to any replacement, and the only resolution offered was to transfer me to the Plant Clinic. After three failed attempts, I cannot recommend their shrubs or their customer service.
